Vodafone Malta Ltd. this week announced it has carefully considered the best method for the re-charge of the three per cent Excise Tax on mobile telephony services announced by the Government in the last national budget. As from 15 December Vodafone will start applying a recharge equivalent to the three Excise Tax to its customers in a staged manner. Customers are also advised that this charge will be subject to VAT.
For post-paid customers, this 3% charge will be applied on all network services from January 1st 2005 and on monthly access charges due from February 1st 2005.
For prepaid customers this 3% charge will apply from 15th December 2004. Vodafone will be revising the service charge on top-up vouchers from 15th December 2004. For an example of a detailed calculation based on a Lm5 top-up voucher please refer to www.vodafone.com.mt.
The 3% charge will not be applicable on donations.
