I refer to the news item in caption and wish to make the following two clarifications so that your readers may know the whole truth about this matter.
I did not at any time or in any way contact anybody from MaltaToday’s editorial team or staff to plant this story. It was MaltaToday editor, Mr Saviour Balzan, who phoned me on Saturday, November 27 at about 1pm to ask me about this issue.
What I said was that whatever I decide I will always be guided by what is in the best interests of the Party which always comes first for me. I asked for this comment to be reported exactly in this manner.
On a final note, although I respect any editor’s right to choose whatever title he or she deems best to attract attention to a story, may I make it absolutely clear that there is absolutely no animosity on my part as it is not in my style to be against anyone in life, let alone in the Party I have dedicated the best part of my life to.
