The total of all industrial turnover in Malta increased by 1,9 per cent over this year’s third quarter, according to figures released by the National Statistics Office yesterday. Industry, as a whole, saw its Employment Index and Wages and Salaries Index increasing of four per cent and three per cent respectively between July and September, while its Hours Worked Index remained stable.
In the third quarter this year, the Turnover Index of the Capital Goods group increased by 19.2 per cent. The group’s Employment Index increased by 21 per cent and its Wages and Salaries Index increased by 9.3 per cent, while the Hours Worked Index registered an increase of 11.1 per cent.
The Turnover Index of the Consumer Durable Goods group increased by 0.7 per cent over this year’s third quarter when compared to the same quarter last year. Its Employment Index decreased by 13.6 per cent, its Wages and Salaries Index and the Hours Worked Index decreased by 16.1 per cent and 24.8 per cent respectively.
The Turnover Index of the Consumer Non-Durable Goods group increased by 0.8 per cent. The Employment Index increased by 2.4 per cent. Also, the Wages and Salaries Index increased by 0.4 per cent and the Hours Worked Index recorded a fall of 0.6 per cent for the period under review.
