Vodafone Malta signs international agreement with Cable & Wireless

Vodafone Malta Limited has signed its second agreement with an international carrier of telephony, broadband data and Internet services, signed by Vodafone Malta Chief Executive Officer Joseph C. Grioli and Cable & Wireless Director of Mobile Carrier Services John Lewis.
The agreement will further enable Vodafone to send and receive voice calls to and from all destinations around the world. Vodafone will be routing some of its voice and data traffic through Cable & Wireless’ points of presence. This is the second agreement that Vodafone has signed with an international carrier, which is expected to yield further benefits to the whole Internet community.
“Through this agreement with Cable & Wireless, which strengthens our network, we plan to be the bandwidth provider of first choice offering international bandwidth to local ISPs and corporate customers,” Mr Grioli comments. “Vodafone will be providing all its customers with high quality and resilient data services.”
Cable & Wireless is a leading international telecommunications company, with customers in 80 countries. Cable & Wireless provides IP (Internet Protocol), voice and data services to business customers, and to residential customers in some markets, as well as services to other telecoms carriers, mobile operators and providers of content, applications and internet services.
Mr Lewis commented “As a leading provider of global telecommunications services, we are delighted to support Vodafone Malta’s international portfolio, assisting them in ensuring high quality global voice and data products for their customers.”
“Our international gateway has already attracted attention from several companies looking into investing in Malta. Data is the future and we are pleased to be contributing the enhancement and development of the Maltese economy through our project,” concluded Mr Grioli.
