Neighbours fear damage to their property

People living near the Forum Hotel in St Andrews fear their property may be damaged when the Forum Hotel comes down some time in the future. Architect Edwin Mintoff applied on Monday 5 July on behalf of the owner, Neville Mifsud to demolish the Forum Hotel and villa and substitute it with multi purpose complex. It is believed the plans are to replace it with a large shopping mall including a supermarket.
However, neighbours in the area told this newspaper that the site notice meant to inform them of the application was not affixed until two days before the deadline for objections. More than a week ago MaltaToday asked MEPA whether it was aware of the late affixing of the notice, but no official reply has been received to date.
The people who live close to the hotel are upset because they were not given enough time to make their complaints known to the authorities.
