Free those beaches

Further to George Bond's letter in MaltaToday 19 September, can I give my wholehearted support for a move to a more liberal state allowing the beaches to become free of clothing.
We have just returned from a really good vacation having spent a week in Malta and then a further week in Gozo. We were very surprised to see signs preventing nude or topless bathing on the beaches.
As an Island that takes a good deal of its income from the tourist market a move into the real world is now needed, especially as you are now part of the EU.
I agree that we do not want to lower standards and allow public nudity in all places but the pleasure of being clothing free under the sun and in the sea has got to be the right move.
By setting aside areas where it is allowed and encouraged brings society forward. We are all naked and equal under the eyes of God.
Our gift to ourselves on leaving Malta was to purchase a copy of MaltaToday and we were most impressed in its style and content. We hope to return to the island again during 2005 and look forward to perhaps one day making it our home.
