Disappointed Maltapost chief

In last weeks Malta Today, there is an item regarding Maltapost entitled ‘Lessons To Be Learnt From The Transend Excursion‚’. I am very disappointed that this article was published without the opportunity for my views on the situation.
I draw to your attention the following achievements since Transend became a shareholder in Maltapost:
- Lm1.3 million invested in the business
- Operations reformed and workforce decreased by 27%
- New systems and functions introduced namely, Finance, HR, Security, Health and Safety, Retail Point of Sale (Counter automation)
- First ever 40 year stamp album collection published
This list is not detailed nor exhaustive but gives some insight into progress despite considerable resistance to change.
We are now entering a new phase where the company will be led by Maltapost managers and not through a management contract.
The challenge for the business continues to be significant given the decline in volumes and the substitution of core products and services.
Our aim is to provide a sustainable level of service at affordable prices and to make profit to invest in the future especially in new business areas.

Robert Lake
Chief Executive Officer
Maltapost plc

Editorial note: Maltapost’s PRO was contacted but no answer was forthcoming.
