Stripper keeps hat on for PBS promotion

Karl Schembri

PBS journalist Peter Cossai, who was facing disciplinary charges for having worked as a stripper, has forfeited his night time ‘career’ for a promotion at the national television station.
Cossai was appointed News Coordinator last week after his application was put on hold pending disciplinary decisions related to his nocturnal indulgences following a series of warnings from the PBS management.
Acting Chief Executive Sylvana Cristina confirmed to MaltaToday that Cossai was given the appointment after “an agreement” was reached with him.
Asked whether the agreement meant that he would stop stripping, Cristina said: “Yes, that’s what the agreement is about.”
Cossai is therefore filling the second and last vacancy for news coordinator, together with Ruth Amaira, who was appointed earlier on in the ongoing restructuring process.
Meanwhile Joe Dimech was appointed Radio Coordinator after his application for TV Coordinator was turned down.
Dimech’s and Cossai’s were the last two internal appointments to be made in the PBS restructuring process that is meant to reduce the workforce there from 178 to 64.
The hot seat of news manager is still vacant and is proving the most difficult to fill. Other vacancies, including those for journalists and clerks, will have to be filled by people from outside PBS given that employees who applied for the jobs were turned down and are expected to be redeployed with the government.
