Australian Citizenship reforms favour disenfranchised Maltese

It’s good news from down under for those Maltese citizens who had to renounce their Australian citizenship because of restrictive Maltese legislation. Intense lobbying by members of the Maltese community in Australia with the Australian Parliament have led to reforms in the citizenship act and those Maltese, who had to renounce their Australian citizenship can resume without restrictions or hindrance their Australian citizenship.
Kate Bonello Sullivan who, for the past three years has led the lobbying effort welcomed changes to the Australian Citizenship Act 1948 that will come into force in 2005. .
The new amendments remove the age limitation and other areas of restriction.
