From the four articles on your newspaper regarding the Triq Wied Mejxu residents, it appears that various notaries have failed to detect this land scam. As a result, many young couples ended in a fix. This is shameful of the notarial profession and much has to be done to restore public confidence. One questions as to whether the methodologies applied in property searches are thorough and trustworthy.
Unless the notarial profession restores public confidence, many investors (both Maltese and foreign) will think twice as to whether property acquisitions in Malta are indeed a safe investment! By the way, are notaries required to be covered by a professional indemnity insurance?
