Alfred Sant stands by his claim on foreign workers

I refer to your front page article by Karl Schembri and Julian Manduca Sant backtracks on Caqnu allegation (Malta Today 13 June 2004). It is not true that there has been any backtracking on the allegation made by Dr Alfred Sant on the Xarabank programme regarding Egyptian and Chinese workers employed in the wineries and vineyards concerned, run by Mr Charles Pollidano, Ic-Caqnu.
When ETC representatives phoned Dr Sant’s executive assistant about the matter, they were informed that the workers concerned had been working in these wineries and vineyards, and that they had been quickly removed from the site on the morning following Xarabank. The Leader of the Opposition stands by his claims.
