Kercem rubble wall is legal

I refer to the article entitled ‘A Vulgar Presidential appointee,’ by Saviour Balzan carried in the issue of the 4 April 2004 of your paper.
I write on behalf of Mr George Spiteri of Plot 62, Triq Wenzu Mintoff, Kercem, VCT 113 with reference to the comments made in the article above captioned about Wardija point off Kercem.
I would advise you that Mr Spiteri is the lawful owner of the land you are referring to, land which he purchased by means of a contract published on the 14 February 1994 by Notary Ino Mario Grech.
I would also advise you that the rubble wall you complain about were built by Mr Spiteri after due permission from the then Planning Authority – reference PA 01378/98.
Mr Spiteri’s land is not subject to any right of way, whether public or private; and the construction of the rubble way was carried out in the lawful and legitimate exercise of Mr Spiteri’s rights of ownership of the land in question.

Advocate Carmelo Galea
Gozo

Editorial note: The article in question does not mention Mr Spiteri and refers to the dilapitated Roman temple and the trapping sites in the area.
