AD consistent on divorce

I read the interview with David Casa in MaltaToday 9 May with a certain interest. The interview starts with Mr Casa refuting a general perception that he is the Nationalist version of Manwel Cuschieri. My reading continued up to the point where Mr Casa stated “As regards divorce, the PN does not really oppose it, but it looks at the value of keeping the family united.” This statement contradicts comments made by high ranking ministers and the former Prime Minister. If these comments mentioned above do not draw parallels with the Manwel Cuschieri’s of this world nothing will.
The PN has been the main reason why divorce has not been legalised. The PN is also responsible for the infamous Family Act 1995 that has caused so much suffering to separating couples to date. For Mr Casa to state that the PN does not really oppose divorce is sheer political opportunism that will only apply to the dim. There is pent up hatred against the system and the political ‘blabble’ of the PN propaganda machine is not working any more. Perhaps political loyalties are slowly starting to fade, or perhaps the younger generations are starting to reason with their minds.
In this regard, I can only state that AD has been the only consistent political party to date. Its stand on divorce, for example, has never changed. Those people, who want divorce, should vote for the party that includes them in their ranks. At least, AD can boast of being the only party that does not have a Cuschieri/Casa personality amongst its ranks.
