Proud to be ‘a’ Maltese

After the euphoria of the EU celebrations and all the different views, in support or against expressed in our local newspapers, it was quite uplifting to read about something positive on our joining the EU. I am talking about the initiative of Dr. Edward de Bono of a ‘World Centre for New Thinking’ based in Malta. We might not realise the importance of this event, as globally, the human race need desperately at this very moment ‘a new way of doing things.’ But first we must change our view of the world by developing a capacity for ‘reflective consciousness.’ Thoughts create our physical reality, and they also create our larger reality and our culture, and thus our reality. Everything manifests itself through ‘thoughts and ideas.’ As someone once said: “The thoughts and conversations that we have, and the events of today not only create our today but shape our tomorrows.” Albert Einstein noted that “we cannot solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that gave rise to it.” Nobel Prize scientists now agree with him, and declare that in order: “to survive in the world we have transformed, we must learn to think in a new way.” Professor Ervin Laszlo, founder and President of the Club of Budapest, says: “New thinking is a ‘soft factor’ in the life of society, but when it comes to deciding our future it carries more weight than money and power, the traditional ‘hard factors.’ The urgently required local and global transformation calls for timely changes in the way we think and the way we act. It is time to begin to think in a new way, and to act in light of our new insights. Because, when all is said and done, the future of the world is in our hand.”
This is what Dr Edward de Bono has set up to do, thus responding to global shifts in human consciousness for ‘new thinking.’ This will eventually change our life in all its manifestations: political, religious, economical, social, legal and educational. It is truly a unique venture, and possible, the best contribution that Malta can offer to the European Union as a new member state and to the world at large. I am proud that ‘a’ Maltese has come up with such a bold initiative using Malta as a platform for new ideas. It makes me proud to be Maltese.
I congratulate him, and I wish him, and all those that will be involved and contribute in this fantastic project for ‘New Thinking,’ every success and blessings. The world needs you!
