With reference to the interview which appeared on MaltaToday of the 29 February 2004 entitled ‘Michael Falzon worked against me’ I would like to make the following clarifications:
I never said the words which appeared in the title, but I realise that from the gist of the said interview one could come to the said conclusion.
Today I know for a fact that Dr Michael Falzon did not take a role in the election for prospective MEP’s.
I can also state that I am now aware that Dr Michael Falzon did not employ any third party to work against me and I now know that after my interview Dr Falzon condemned such manoeuvres.
In relation to Ms Claudette Baldacchino’s candidature I am now aware that the officials who approved her to contest did not include Dr Michael Falzon as indicated in her sworn statement.
I would like to take this opportunity to confirm my loyalty to the Malta Labour Party and withdraw any comments relating to independent candidacy. I am working at full throttle to get the Labour vote out on the 12 June elections.
Finally I would like to sincerely apologise to Dr Michael Falzon for the inconvenience I have caused him.
