To hell with FM Bronja

Many of these Christian democrat governments saw fit to introduce ABORTION and DIVORCE in their own country

If Margaret Thatcher had to reconsider recreating herself and seeking another political career she could seriously consider taking over Austin Gatt’s mind and body.
Dr Gatt has taken it upon himself to reform many of the state run companies. In his haste he has failed to realise the function of the public broadcaster or better still what is an essential service to the public.
This very week flanked by the Chairman of PBS, Mr Michael Mallia, who has consistently refused to talk to the media, a strange habit considering his post, the Minister announced that FM Bronja, Malta’s answer to Classic FM would be closing down.
The reason, being that only 2,500 listened to the station.
Now wait a minute Dr Gatt.
Which survey are you reading from?
I trust it is not the survey which utilises the services of University of Malta students renowned for inventing data collection. Because if that is the case, then Dr Gatt is well off track.
Nevertheless, public broadcasting is not only about being populist and providing superficial and popcorn driven programmes, as is the case with Friday evenings on PBS.
Dr Gatt has taken advantage of the fact that this small nation does not have a voice for the hundreds who feel culturally deprived.
His other assertion that FM Bronja costs thousands of liri to run, is far fetched.

Marisa Micallef Leyson cannot say one nice word for her party, the PN, without saying two awful ones about Alternattiva. She says that one can be Green and a Nationalist. That could be very true, for example one can also be gay and Nationalist. But that does not change the fact that the Nationalist leader is not in favour of gay rights no matter what anyone says.
Ms Micallef Leyson is just one of those PN pawns called in to rubbish Prof. Cassola and his team.
She is not the only one with a passion for rubbishing the Greens. Another democrat is Simon Busuttil, the soft-spoken PN candidate.

I was either drunk or seriously under the influence of drugs, but on several occasions after April 2003, in the presence of others and myself, Dr Busuttil recounted that he would love to militate within a social democratic party.
Now, every single time Simon appears on TV or radio he goes into this repetitive refrain that the PN are the largest bloc and anyone in a smaller bloc is not worth a vote.
However, Simon and the rest of the band fail to remind us that the aptly named EPP or the European conservatives are not that conservative at all.
Many of these Christian Democrat governments saw fit to introduce ABORTION and DIVORCE in their own country.
Now how does Simon and the rest of the clan reconcile this fact before treating his listeners to more hogwash?

Yet, the unforgettable quote of the week is Joe Saliba’s.
The PN Secretary General said that the reason that one should not vote for the Socialist European parties is because they did not have the word ‘liberty’ in their manifesto.
Which reminded me that the only countries that insert ‘democracy,’ ‘liberation,’ and other silly phrases in their acronyms are the totalitarian countries of Algeria, Ethiopia and Azerbajan, not to mention the former German Democratic Republic. All of which enjoy or enjoyed little or no democracy and liberty.
