Mintoff’s reign of terror

Geoffrey Vella
Luqa

I read about your dreadful adventure in court with the communist political dinosaur Dom Mintoff. I give you all my solidarity and I wish to congratulate you for your work done especially on the National Bank saga and the BICAL stories.
I can say from my experience that during his reign, it was a reign of terror. The period affected my educational life, and education is a right. A right that is nowadays granted by the Constitution. Mintoff left Malta in a limbo, in a sort of dark ages that affected many persons of my age who during that time were at the crucial period of their education.
I had to leave the private school that I attended because of threats from the heros and bullies of those dark days and sometimes we went to school without our official uniform. My education was distorted and I had to make a big sacrifice, even financially, to recoup what I lost during that period. Thank God now I am a fourth year law student and I feel really sorry for those persons of my age who had their education disrupted because of those times. Once again I support you and hope that this irrational situation, in which you have been involved will end in a favourable manner. Also keep it up and continue revealing the horrible stories that show how democracy was insulted in those terrible days. I also hope that in Malta there will be a party that shows real and a genuine socialist ideal.
