Lm25,000 commission fails to submit report
The welfare commission, better known as the Pensions Commission, which was expected to draw up a strategy for reform in the welfare system by October 1999, has still not concluded its report.
Last year it was paid Lm25,000 for its services and a similar figure will be distributed to the commission this year. The commission is head by Alfred Galdes, a former Central Bank Governor.
The welfare commission was formed with the express aim of finding a solution to the problem of the welfare gap. This year, a staggering Lm190 million will be needed to sustain social security payments.
